Call for Nominations for New Board of Directors

Fort St. John Co-operative Association was incorporated on July 26th, 1944. Fort St. John Co-op is a retail co-operative owned by over 8,300 members.

At Fort St. John Co-op, we proudly employ at team of more than 70, operating several locations across the Peace-Liard Region. The continued success and service to our members and guests is a priority for the Board of Directors, the management and team members.

Nominations are open for three (3) Board of Director positions, each with a three-year term.

Deadline for Nominations: April 12, 2026

Who Can Nominate?

  • Individuals who meet the necessary qualifications may nominate themselves.
  • Fort St. John Co-op Members with active account.

Qualifications of a Director:

  1. Must be a member of the Association, or a representative of an eligible organization that is a member of the Association, at least 30 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.
  2. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  3. Must not have been found incapable by a court in Canada or elsewhere of managing the individual's own affairs.
  4. Must not be an un-discharged bankrupt individual.
  5. Must not have been convicted in or out of British Columbia of an offence in conjunction with the promotion, formation or management of a corporation, or an offence involving fraud, in which a pardon has not been granted.
  6. Must not be an employee of the Association.
  7. Must not be related to an employee of the Association in any of the following ways:
    • Spouse or a person living with the employee in an arrangement equivalent to spouse. 
    • Children, stepchildren, children or stepchildren’s spouse.
  8. Must not have an account with the Association that is more than 60 days in arrears.
  9. Must be prepared to attend occasional training sessions.
  10. Must be prepared to attend all regular meetings of the Board each year.
  11. Must be prepared to serve on committees and attend special meetings, member relations functions and activities throughout the year.
  12. Should the director become a delegate, they must be able to attend meetings on behalf of the Co-op, which will involve travel outside of the region.
  13. Must be prepared to take an oath of office.
  14. Must be a strong supporter of the Co-op in all aspects, including patronizing the Co-op with a minimum purchase amount of $1,000.00 per fiscal year (from February to January).
  15. Has no conflict of interest whereas a director would be unable to fulfill their Duty of Loyalty and Duty of Care to the Co-operative.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for nominations: April 12, 2026
  • Annual General Meeting (AGM): May 27, 2026
  • Election of Directors will take place at the AGM, and successful candidates will be announced after the election.
