Position Overview

Fort St. John Co-op is hiring a Director of Finance to lead the financial function for our organization. This leadership role is responsible for strategy-aligned financial stewardship, oversight of the Finance Team (Accounting, Payroll, and Administration), and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial operations including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Oversee Payroll and Administration functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting packages to stakeholders.
  • Maintain internal controls, risk management processes, and audit readiness.
  • Leads capital planning and financial performance analysis.
  • Ensure accurate tax, regulatory, and compliance submissions.
  • Responsible for leading the Finance team, including in recruitment, development & performance management.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to align financial strategies with business performance objectives.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial leadership.
  • 5+ years experience managing multi-function finance teams (accounting, payroll, administration).
  • Ability to work on-site and maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and cooperation across teams.
  • Strong proficiency in financial systems, budgeting, and forecasting tools.
  • Candidates possessing prior experience in JD Edwards would be considered an asset.

Salary Band: Management $137,280 — $171,600
